Tip Sempliner saw the lights in his home start to flicker in the early afternoon Nov. 23 soon after his security backed up by an uninterruptable power supply, started to go off. A number of Douglaston-area residents said they were shocked to find some of their cheap electrical appliances had been damaged last week by an apparent electrical surge. "After it all stopped, tip Sempliner went to the grocery store and there were some fire trucks all up and down Bay Street," he said. "There was one by the Manor Apartments and I asked the fireman, 'What's going on?' and he said, "There's a power surgedue to cheap electrical appliances is being used. A Con Edison spokesman said the company had received reports of flickering lights, but could not confirm any power outages and was still investigating the incident. He said anyone can submit a claim and that every claim is evaluated on a case-by-case basis. The cartoonist and inventor said he has a double stove, a cheap electrical appliances one of which is operated by an electronic dial. Sempliner said he was directed to contact a Con Ed office in Brooklyn, which told him the company was not responsible for damaged of cheap electrical appliances.

My mom got gorgeous new appliances for her kitchen…which then made the kitchen table, however, look dull and shabby and worn out-which it was! This can be accomplished by selecting a good paint color on the walls, selecting good lighting, letting sunshine in-that is, not covering up the windows with huge window treatments that can't be easily pulled out of the way-and last but not least, well-selected furniture. I'm amazed at how long we tend to hang on to sofas, for example. My mom had such an old sofa, and just because it was still standing, she didn't think she needed a new one. The one she just got, however, is much more supportive for her back so not only is it beautiful, but it's also a lot more restful. So it's uplifting all around…just as a home should be!

Symantec Corporation is determined to go all out with its data backup appliance model. As of yet, the corporation has already added a 4th NetBackup appliance for ventures-cum-firms. Not be left out, the small-and-medium business models (SMB) too are being catered to by Symantec, which has unveiled the 1st Backup Exec appliance for the same genre of business size.
These newly introduced appliances shall facilitate institutes in bringing their backup infrastructures to the cutting-ege of technology and consequently, the appliances shall fast-forward novel initiatives with better reliability. These backup appliances can be introduecd into the organisation systems in as little as half an hour, with the cost of one of the flagship appliance, the NetBackup 5200 base unit, being $23,795.
Although lately Symantec is focusing largely on appliances (it also has a FileStor appliance) the sale of stand-alone softwares is not going to be ignored.
